Borussia Dortmund are ‘eyeing’ up a move for Aston Villa teenager Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports.
The 18-year-old has made 13 first-team appearances for the Villans, including a start against Brentford in the Premier League last August.
Chukwuemeka made his Villans debut at the end of last season at 17 years old, coming off the bench in the 89th minute during a match against Tottenham.
However, a report last November claimed that the young midfielder isn’t keen on signing a new Villa deal after ‘growing frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities’.
With his contract expiring in 2023, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with Chukwuemeka.
However, German outlet Der Westen (via Sport Witness) claim that Borussia Dortmund are interested in the signing the player, who ‘resembles’ Jude Bellingham.
The report says that Dortmund ‘smell their chance’ with Chukwuemeka who is being compared to Bellingham due to his age, position, ‘size and build’.
Furthermore, Bayern Munich and ‘big clubs’ in the Premier League are all ‘watching’ the teenager.
Chukwuemeka reportedly does not want to make a decision on his future until the summer.
Meanwhile, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips could be very tempted by a move to Aston Villa, according to former Sunderland man Kevin Phillips.
Villa have been linked with a move for the Leeds star as Steven Gerrard looks to improve his midfield options.
Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips, who played for Villa, said: “He’s very capable of playing for those big six clubs, there’s no doubt about it.
“I think when he’s fully fit, he could slot into any of those top sides, and Leeds United are going to have a real battle on their hands to keep him around.
“The only saving grace is that he loves the club, and you’d think that he would want to help them stay in the Premier League.
“I think they’ll be bids flying in for him. There’s no surprise that Villa with Steven Gerrard are in for him.
“It could be a very tempting move for him. He’d be playing under one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.”
