€40m Arsenal offer for La Liga star to ‘KO’ Madrid and win race for Arteta ‘obsession’

Arsenal can ‘KO’ Real Madrid with a bid for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga, who has also been linked with a host of other Premier League sides this summer.
Veiga – whose stellar showings in the 2022/23 campaign also caught the eye of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain – has a €40m (£34m) release clause in his contract which makes him an attractive proposition for interested parties, particularly given he’s just 21 years old.
Liverpool and Chelsea were among the Premier League clubs most heavily linked with the midfielder, who scored 11 goals in 36 La Liga matches last term.
A report last month claimed Chelsea were looking at Veiga as a potential replacement for Mason Mount, but it now appears they have turned their attention to Lyon star Rayan Cherki. Liverpool were keen but have since signed Dominik Szoboszlai.
Celta Vigo ‘hope to be able to convince him to postpone his march for 12 more months’ and Veiga himself has made it clear that he ‘will not go to any team that does not guarantee him minutes’.

That’s according to Nacional, who claim Arsenal could look to steal a march on Real Madrid to sign the Spain Under-21 international.
The report claims Madrid president Florentino Perez ‘has his name written down in red on the agenda, but this year is not a viable option’.
Having extended the contracts of ToniKroos, Dani Ceballos and Luka Modric while adding Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler to the squad ‘there is no space in the locker room’, which also accomodates Edouardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni (though maybe not for long).
The plan therefore is to persuade Veiga to remain with Celta Vigo until the summer of 2024 – something he’s reportedly happy to do – at which point they would make a bid to sign him.
But it’s claimed Arsenal ‘threatens to destroy the plan that Perez has drawn up’ and ‘can launch its first offer’ for Veiga ‘in the next few days’.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has ‘become obsessed with the qualities of Veiga’ and believes he can ‘become one of the best footballers in the Premier League in his position’.
Arsenal are ‘a serious threat to Madrid’, the report concludes.
