According to reports, Torino defender Perr Schuurs ‘prioritises’ a move to Liverpool amid rival interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

The Dutch centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent days.

Having already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for around £95m combined, Liverpool are now hoping to recruit Southampton’s Romeo Lavia but they are also in the market for a young defender.

Jurgen Klopp is understood to be keen to sign an up-and-coming centre-back who can compete with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. Schuurs has reportedly caught his attention following his emergence at Serie A side Torino.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign Schuurs as they are preparing for Marc Geuhi’s potential departure.

DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando has tweeted: ‘Perr #Schuurs one step away from farewell to #Torino. The #CrystalPalace presented a 35M offer to the grenade club and hopes to close in the next few hours for the Dutch centre-back. 4 year contract ready.

Liverpool are seemingly not giving up though as a ‘new move’ is being prepared for the defender, who is valued at around €40m by Torino.

Now TuttoSport (via Football Italia) are reporting that Schuurs has ‘told his teammates that he may leave Torino before next week’.

They claim that Liverpool have ‘raised their bid’ for Schuurs, but their latest offer ‘does not match Torino’s asking price’.

His admission to his teammates reportedly comes while Torino ‘assess the offers they have received’ for the highly-rated defender, who has attracted ‘interest’ from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

The report also claims Schuurs ‘prioritises a move to Anfield’. And given the teams in the running to sign him, it is easy to see why.

Klopp is a ‘long-term admirer’ of the defender, who openly confirmed this week that offers for him have “arrived” ahead of next season.

“I don’t know if I’m staying,” Schuurs admitted.

“I don’t know if I’ll leave for Pinzolo on Monday, my agents and the club are evaluating the offers that have arrived.”

While supporters of Liverpool are rightly laughing of reports linking them with an audacious swoop for Kylian Mbappe, an addition at centre-back is far more likely.

Palace’s Guehi, Chelsea’s Levi Colwill and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven have been mentioned as potential alternatives to Schuurs.
