Edu to offload out-of-favour Arsenal star to Super Lig side in January
Mohamed Elneny could reportedly leave Arsenal for Galatasaray in January as Edu and Mikel Arteta continue the club’s squad overhaul.
Elneny signed for the Gunners from FC Basel in January 2016 and has made over 130 appearances for the north Londoners.
However, he has only played four times under manager Arteta this term, with his only starts coming in the Carabao Cup.
Are we STILL feeling sorry for British managers in Premier League?
The Egypt international could push for a move in January, whether it be on a permanent or temporary basis.
It is very likely that Elneny will represent his country at the African Cup of Nations in January, however, which could jeopardise a potential move away from the Emirates.
Having said that, Galatasaray are leading the race to sign the tireless midfielder in January, claim Turkish outlet Fanatik.
Adding fuel to the fire, Elneny’s agent William D’Avila revealed that his player wanted to join the Super Lig giants earlier this month.
“Galatasaray is a big club, they do well on the domestic and continental level as well, they are always chasing titles,” D’Avila told Fanatik.
“I think Elneny’s move to Galatasaray will be good for him, especially that he himself wants to join the club. I have a good relationship with Galatasaray officials.
“I have a good relationship with Galatasaray officials. I meet them on a weekly basis… I don’t know if Galatasaray are currently negotiating over Elneny, but they should.
“His contract ends by the end of the season and he could join them in January or after the season ends on a free transfer.
“Elneny wants to move to Turkey, and there is interest from multiple big clubs, but it’s too early to say where the player will end up.”
Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey wants a return to the Premier League in January, according to the Daily Mail.
The Wales international left north London in 2019 following the expiry of his contract, penning a reported £400,000-a-week contract with Juventus.
Ramsey has struggled for fitness during his time in Italy and has only started 25 league games for the Old Lady during his two-and-a-half years in Turin.
The Daily Mail report claims that Ramsey wants to end his ‘Juventus nightmare’ and also says he will need to reduce his wage demands if he wants to attract a transfer.
