‘Embarrassed’ Alli is ‘wasting everyone’s time’ at Everton – Jordan

Everton midfielder Dele Alli walks back into position

Dele Alli must be “embarrassed” that he can’t get into a “poor” Everton side, according to former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan.

The England international left Tottenham in the January transfer window on a free transfer, which could eventually rise to £40m depending on whether certain performance bonuses are met.

Alli is yet to start a match at Everton under Frank Lampard and didn’t even get on the pitch in the Toffees 2-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday.

Pickford histrionics not helping Everton. Nor is Lampard…

Everton are slipping towards the relegation zone and have a huge match against fellow relegation strugglers Burnley in midweek.

But their efforts to improve their fortunes with Alli has been a “complete and utter waste of time” according to Jordan.

Jordan said on talkSPORT: “He’s been there for two months, he’s a complete and utter waste of time.

“He was a waste of time at Tottenham for two years, he’s been a waste of time being signed for Everton. It was a waste of time signing.”

Jordan added: “I hope I’m wrong, because the boy was talented. I don’t think he was ever at the level people built him up to and saying he was the best No. 10 in the world.

“…He’s in a situation now where he’s been dropkicked out of Tottenham, the only reason Everton took him was because the actual fee itself was deferred and played into the long grass based upon performance.

“So, based upon performance, Everton will get a rebate. The kid’s got to be embarrassed. Is there any level of professional pride?

“You’ve been booted out of Tottenham, two or three managers didn’t want you… I think Frank Lampard should look at himself for signing players like Dele Alli because he needed help, not a compounding of the problem.”

The former Crystal Palace chairman continued: “If this kid has gone to Everton and he’s in last chance saloon to get close to it, and this is the by-product of it, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be chomping at the bit.

“There’s no reason he shouldn’t be fit enough or competitive enough to go into that side, because that Everton side is poor.

“Dele Alli, you’re looking at someone who’s wasting everyone’s time, notably his own.”
