Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told his Manchester United players that he could face the sack this week, according to reports.
The Red Devils have drawn their last two matches in the Premier League against Sheffield United and Aston Villa, conceding five goals in the process.
Those results leave them ninth in the standings, eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
And a number of poor United performances this season has seen the pressure build on Solskjaer with The Sun now reporting that defeat against Tottenham and Manchester City this week could see the club sack the Norwegian.
A Man Utd source told The Sun: “Ole was a little bit emotional and told them that if they don’t get two results this week, he could be gone.
“It is the worst time to be facing Spurs with Jose coming back.”
The availability of Mauricio Pochettino after his sacking at Tottenham has only increased speculation that Solskjaer could soon be out of a job.
Jose Mourinho, who replaced Pochettino at White Hart Lane, will take his Spurs side to Old Trafford on Wednesday with the Portuguese boss no doubt desperate for victory.
And the source added: “Ole told the players all his and their focus now has to go straight to the Spurs game. He was not being critical of Jose in any way but made it clear to the players just how much their old boss will want to win.”
