England call up third Tottenham midfielder
Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has been called up by England despite not being first choice for his club.
Mason joins teammates Dele Alli and Eric Dier in Roy Hodgson’s squad after the withdrawal of injured Fabian Delph.
He has not started a Premier League match since mid-September having failed to win back his place following injury.
Mason already has one England cap after appearing as a substitute in last season’s friendly against Italy.
Hodgson has promised that six of England’s injury-depleted starting XI to face France on Tuesday will be under the age of 22.
Why do Ryan Mason and Jesse Lingard get picked over Danny Drinkwater and Marc Albrighton? They are better, in-form players.

Hold on! So Jesse Lingaard and Ryan Mason are called up to the England squad before Ward Prowse? Hodgson never ceases to amaze me…
