Romano gives Enzo Fernandez to Man City ‘here we go’ as Chelsea ‘approve’ joint-record deal
Manchester City have struck an ‘agreement’ to sign Enzo Fernandez after Chelsea decided to ‘approve’ the deal, which is worth around £125m.
The Fernandez transfer saga has been ongoing throughout this summer, and it’s hardly surprising that it has lasted until deadline day.
After Iliman Ndiaye, Fernandez was Man City’s last leading target of the summer, with Enzo Maresca’s side keen to add one more midfielder.
Man City have already spent heavily to sign Elliot Anderson and Ayyoud Bouaddi, but they need another addition after selling Rodri, Tijani Reijnders and Nico Gonzalez.
And they have settled on Fernandez as their leading target after he previously worked with Maresca at Chelsea, though it was hard to strike a deal with the Blues.

The London outfit demanded around £120m for Fernandez, and it was widely reported that they would sell if they could sign a replacement before the transfer window closes.
AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara and AS Roma’s Manu Kone have been mooted as options to replace Fernandez.
Regardless, BBC Sport reporter Sami Mokbel has stated on Tuesday afternoon that Man City and Chelsea are now in the ‘final negotiation’ for Fernandez.
Enzo Fernandez deal now ‘agreed’
Regarding the current situation, Mokbel explained: ‘Manchester City and Chelsea have entered into final negotiations over the sale of Enzo Fernandez.

‘Talks over the fee are now said to be advancing with City prepared to meet Chelsea’s minimum £120m valuation.
‘The final agreement is also subject to Chelsea signing a replacement for Fernandez with Lamine Camara and Manu Kone among the options explored.’
Shortly after this update, respected reporter David Ornstein reported that Man City have ‘reached an agreement’ with Chelsea for Fernandez, who will join as part of a joint-record deal.
Ornstein said on X: ‘EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Enzo Fernandez. Package for 25yo midfielder work £125m so matches British transfer record.
‘Argentina int’l granted permission by #CFC to undergo medical & complete #MCFC move.’
Romano then added: ‘BREAKING: Enzo Fernández to Manchester City, HERE WE GO!
‘Deal in place for fee over £125m after a long negotiation as Chelsea approved the sale.
‘Enzo only wanted Manchester City and he’s now set for medical at #MCFC.’
