Erling Haaland’s agent ‘sure’ of ‘ridiculous’ valuation for Man City star as price of ‘divorce’ is predicted
Erling Haaland’s agent is “sure” that the valuation for the Manchester City striker will be “ridiculous” when he comes to exit the Premier League club.
The forward joined the Premier League club during the summer transfer window. He signed for them from Borussia Dortmund for around £51m.
The 22-year-old has been in stunning goalscoring form this term as he has netted 32 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.
As a team, Man City have not been at their best, though. Pep Guardiola is having to adapt this term as he has often opted to use a false nine instead of an out-and-out striker.
City and Haaland have looked frighteningly good when they have got it right this term, but the striker has been out of the game and ineffective in certain fixtures. This was the case over the weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.
Reports in recent weeks have claimed that Haaland and Guardiola’s relationship has ‘cracked’. This is said to be leading to a ‘divorce’.
Haaland’s agent – Rafaela Pimenta – has attempted to increase her player’s valuation by insisting that he is “worth €1bn”.
“Erling Haaland is worth €1billion (£831m). That’s not a guess, I’m sure of it,” Pimenta said via TF1’s Telefoot programme.
“They might say I’m being ridiculous, that a club is not going to pay a billion. But his age, his quality, his progression and the way he behaves is why I talk about a billion.
“The future is unknown but it’s coming. He’s so simple, not impressed with the ‘bling bling’. He eats lasagne before matches, it’s his magic formula. He doesn’t see himself as important. It’s the future.”
Speaking last October, she stated: “I think Erling will be the first player to achieve a transfer that will be around £1bn.
“If you put together his football value, his image value, his sponsor value, it is for sure £1bn. It’s normal to compare Erling with [Kylian] Mbappe so you have a little bit of an idea of the market.”
During the January transfer window, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Haaland has a “non-Premier League club” release clause in his Man City contract that becomes active in 2024.
‘The more he succeeds, of course, the more interest he’ll attract, but it’s not true that there’s a Real Madrid-specific release clause, and Pep Guardiola has gone on record denying this,’ Jacobs wrote.
‘In fact, there’s no active release clause in his contract, though things will change a little in the summer of 2024 when a €200m release clause starts to kick in, and it can only be triggered by non-Premier League clubs.’
