Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has described Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as “an incredible player”.

The Norwegian is one of the hottest properties in world football having scored 12 goals in ten appearances in all competitions since joining Dortmund in January from RB Salzburg.

Haaland‘s record for the Austrian side was even more incredible with 28 goals in 21 appearances in the first half of the season, including a goal against Liverpool in the Champions League.

When asked by France Football what type of defender he hates playing against, Haaland said: “Van Dijk. He is so good.

“He is powerful, quick, he possesses all the qualities. He is an incredible player.”

Haaland only joined up with Dortmund in January after being linked with a move to Manchester United for months.

There have been suggestions that Haaland could use the Bundesliga outfit as a stepping stone to greater things but he is “very happy” with how things have started.

“I have just arrived. I am very happy here. I want to achieve many things,” Haaland added

“I am only concentrating on that. The stadium here gives me goose bumps, and I feel well here.”
