Evans has already added 11 players over the course of the summer as the Millers prepare for a second season in the Sky Bet Championship, but after spending frugally, the Scot insists he has money available.
There is an offer in for a loan deal with one player, while dialogue has started with another player’s club over a permanent deal.
“We’re certainly hoping to add a couple of players this week,” Evans said. “We know who we’d like to add. Our chairman is aware of that.
“I had dinner with him on Friday night and we discussed further what we’d like to do going forward.
“We’re sitting here with funds to be able to do what we like really. We’ve been very careful and scrupulous with our budget.
“We’ve walked away from some players because we wouldn’t take ourselves out of our wage structure.
“We’ve made an offer for another loan player. They involve loan fees these days. You don’t just get them and pay their wages.
“We’re talking to one other club about a permanent transfer.
“I think we have recruited really well. I think we are significantly stronger than last year.”
