Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he had talks with Liverpool about taking over from Brendan Rodgers.
The new Everton boss will take the Toffees across Stanley Park on Sunday to face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round.
Ancelotti will come up against Jurgen Klopp, who was appointed by the Reds to replace Rodgers in 2015.
But Ancelotti has revealed that he was under consideration for the Anfield job. However, the Italian believes Klopp was the right man for the job.
“It was after (I left) Real Madrid, I had a chat with the owner,” Ancelotti revealed to The Telegraph.
“They were looking for a new manager but I think they made a right choice with Jurgen. He is doing fantastic work at Liverpool, so well done.”
