Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Everton are interested in signing Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.
It was reported earlier this week that Everton had agreed a £25m fee with Besiktas for Tosun.
The Toffees failed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer and initially struggled without the Belgian, but find themselves in mid-table after Allardyce has steered the ship to safety.
And they are now looking to January for reinforcements, with Tosun, who has 14 goals this season, chief among the targets.
When Allardyce was asked whether interest in the 26-year-old was genuine on Friday, he replied: “Him and many others.
“We need a front man, if we can find one. We will be actively looking for a front man in this window. I need more goals in the side than what we have at the moment.
“We have started to struggle to create chances and score goals in recent matches. It is still one of the major problems that we have.”
