Everton and Fulham have both “verbally agreed” on a deal for Bournemouth forward Joshua King, according to reports.

The former Manchester United academy graduate made the move to the Cherries in 2015. He signed on a free transfer ahead of their first season in the Premier League.

King immediately established himself as a regular in their first-team in the top flight. His best goalscoring season came in 2016/17 as he netted 16 times from his 36 outings.

The forward was one of their best performers last season as Bournemouth were relegated back down to the Championship. He came close to re-joining Man United in January 2020, but the deal fell through.

King was linked with a move away again in the summer, but he did end up staying with the Cherries. He has three goals so far this term from his 14 outings.

A number of Premier League clubs have been interested in signing King during this window. He looked like he may remain at Bournemouth until the end of the season.

But Everton and Fulham have both made late moves to try to sign him before the end of the transfer window.

Sky Sports have now revealed that both clubs have “verbally agreed” on deals to sign King. They add that each are structured differently and they will now battle it out to try to sign him.

Paul Joyce, who is a northern correspondent for The Times, has reported on Twitter that Everton are in “pole position” to sign King.
