Everton winger Alex Iwobi has urged his teammates to show consistency going forward after his late goal gave them a valuable win against Newcastle.

Iwobi slotted home deep into stoppage time to move Everton three points clear of the relegation zone and send Goodison park into raptures.

The Premier League will be dead when Klopp leaves Liverpool…

Speaking after the game on Thursday evening, Iwobi admitted it was an ‘amazing feeling’ to score a late winner.

“I can’t describe it. The scenes have been crazy – you saw the fans and the atmosphere in the changing room… Some people are still in there now not able to leave, like, Seamus [Coleman] is still in there!” Iwobi told evertontv.

“Everyone is enjoying the moment and it’s a great feeling.

“It shows the mentality that we have that we want to fight for the fans but also prove to ourselves [that we could go on to win with 10 men]. The red card decision was harsh but we still managed to get the result we needed.

“[For the goal] I just knew I had to stay composed. It was on my weaker foot. I had to make sure I beat the keeper, which I was able to do and get the goal.

“I ran to the wrong side [to celebrate]! I wish I’d ran the other way – but it was still a great feeling.

“I can still hear them and feel them.

“It felt like they were on the pitch with me. It was an amazing feeling.

“We have to take this result forward and use it to know that we’re able to do it, even with 10 men.

“We showed that fighting spirit, now we have to continue it for the rest of the season.”

On what he and Everton need to do now to build on the win, Iwobi added:

“The main thing for us is to remain consistent now.

“That’s the main thing for me, too. I want to help the team get goals and assists.

“The manager has been great with me. He said we’re going to need everyone so I knew my time would come and I had to be ready.

“I’ve taken onboard everything he said and just give 100 per cent in training and also in matches. Whenever he gives me opportunities, I try to repay the faith.

“We know it’s not going to be easy against Palace next, but we’re trying to get to Wembley, so we’ll give it everything.”
