Everton interest in crucial Leeds forward ‘very advanced’ as Dyche hopes to secure damaging raid

Interest in Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is reportedly ‘very advanced’ from Everton, who are ‘looking to seal a deal’ for the winger as a move for one of his teammates looks unlikely.

The Whites have had an eventful transfer window to this point. They’ve made four additions to the squad, somewhat making up for the eight exits – five of those on loan deals.

At the moment, the biggest talking point is the potential exit of Wilfried Gnonto, who is seemingly refusing to play and making it clear he wants to leave, despite being told he’s not for sale.

His head has apparently been turned by interest from Everton, who had an initial £20million bid turned down. As such, their attention now seems firmly fixed on his teammate, Harrison.

The Englishman is said to have a release clause in his contract. It’s unknown the actual figure which would see that triggered, but it’s assumed it’s around the £22million mark.

It might not matter what the figure is, as Paul Joyce reports Everton are ‘pushing to seal a deal’ for the winger. He adds that the Toffees’ interest in him is ‘very advanced’.

After having reportedly bid £20million for Gnonto, a player who they may have no chance of snaring amid Leeds’ not for sale stance, paying £22million for his more experienced teammate seems a no-brainer.

Indeed, Harrison will be approaching his prime, given he’s 26; the winger has three years of Premier League experience, and has directly contributed to 37 goals in that time.

He seems to be worth the money reports suggest Leeds will have to sell him for, and would be another impactful player to add to the list of signings at Goodison Park this summer.

Everton have already added Chermiti, Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma to the squad. Young is a very experienced campaigner who should add something to the squad, while Danjuma is an exciting attacker, who could thrive as one of the main men.

Harrison would seemingly be in that same position, and could help Everton to finally have a season when they’re not constantly looking over their shoulder, attempting to escape a relegation battle.

Even if they are in trouble of the drop again this term, Harrison has been in that position over the last couple of year with Leeds, and has managed to perform well anyway.
