Everton line up Vieira to replace Allardyce – report

Everton want Patrick Vieira to replace Sam Allardyce as manager this summer, according to reports.

Vieira has been linked with replacing his former manager Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, but may well miss out on that job.

Currently the manager of New York City FC, Vieira is thought to be keen to return to Europe to continue his managerial career.

Metro Sport have an exclusive on the claim that Everton are considering an approach for Vieira, with the club aware of supporters’ widespread dislike of Allardyce and his football.

We are told that Farhad Moshiri is keen to appoint a young coach as an antidote to Allardyce. Paul Fonseca has also been mentioned.

Crucially, Vieira is only on £2m a year at NYC FC, a figure Everton could easily eclipse. The club would not stand in his way if he expressed an interest to move.
