Everton preparing bid for Barcelona and France defender Umtiti

Everton are reportedly planning a January move for Barcelona’s World Cup winning defender Samuel Umtiti.
The Frenchman is one of numerous players to be linked with a move away from the Nou Camp.
That’s led to interest from clubs around Europe, including one from the Premier League.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Goal), Everton are hoping to sign Umtiti during the next transfer window.
The player has been linked with Man Utd in the past, but they ultimately decided to pursue other defensive targets.
That means a move to Goodison Park could now be on the cards as manager Carlo Ancelotti aims to improve his squad.
The report states that Umtiti could be available for as little as £10.7 million, as Barca chiefs aim to offload the player.
He currently earns a reported £206,000 a week so they will be aiming to lower their wage bill through a deal.
A move during the January transfer window is being mentioned. However, it could also be on the cards for summer 2021 if Everton are unwilling to rush into it.
The 27-year-old would be a good option for Ancelotti at centre back. He is an experienced defender that has won many trophies during his career, including two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies.
Arguably his greatest achievement was being part of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Ancelotti will be hoping Umtiti can bring that winning attitude to England if he does sign for the Toffees.
It’s thought he could form a great partnership with one of the club’s existing centre backs. Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have been used mostly this season.
They can also rely on youngsters Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey in the centre of defence.
