Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood claims Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is the “obvious choice” to replace Unai Emery if he leaves Arsenal.

A section of supporters have turned on Emery following a run of two wins from their last nine Premier League games.

Emery came in for criticism after his side allowed a lead to slip for the third time in a week as they drew 1-1 with Wolves on Saturday.

Raul Jimenez’s header earned Wolves a point at the Emirates Stadium after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 50th Arsenal goal had put Emery’s side in charge.

Emery’s decision to substitute defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira with winger Bukayo Saka just three minutes before Jimenez scored completely altered the mood inside the stadium.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has guided the Foxes to third in the league beating Southampton 9-0 along the way and Sherwood says he would be “trying to tap him up” if he was in charge at Arsenal.

“They [Arsenal] might not have to go far to negotiate with another manager because he might be sitting right next to him [at the weekend],” Sherwood told Premier League Productions.

“I think Brendan Rodgers is an obvious choice for a top, top Premier League team. Would he want to leave Leicester ? I’m not saying he would.

“But if I was at the head of it at Arsenal, I like Brendan Rodgers, I think he’s a better manager than Unai Emery. I would certainly be trying to tap him up.”
