Arsenal should look to build their team around star midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, according to ex-Tottenham striker Darren Bent.

The 20-year-old has started all four of The Gunners opening Premier League games and particularly impressed in the 2-2 draw with Spurs in the north London derby last weekend.

The Frenchman set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a superb pass in a stand-out second half display.

Bent believes Guendouzi will be the key man in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield for years to come.

“He’s playing like he’s someone who’s played for Arsenal for years.” Bent told Football insider.

“It’s scary that he’s only 20, he could be in the Arsenal midfield for the next 10 years, he’s really good in that role.

“Even when he gives the ball away, he wants the ball all the time.

“He never shies away from that and that is a trait in a midfielder that you can’t teach, you can’t teach that.”

Guendouzi earned his first international cap for France after Paul Pogba pulled out with injury.

Guendouzi said said: “Since I was kid, it was a goal of mine. A dream.

“The fact it’s become true, you recall all the steps in your career: the hard times, the important moments.

“It’s when you’re on the phone with your family that it sinks in. There are some crying. Wearing this shirt, it’s a great honour.”
