‘Expert’ claims Kounde to Chelsea is similar to Man Utd transfer

Jules Kounde to Chelsea “would suit all parties” and a deal is “very likely” this summer, according to Andy Brassell.

The Sevilla defender has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the last few weeks, while there has been speculation that both Tottenham and Man Utd were interested.

Fabrizio Romano said earlier this week that the Blues had offered Sevilla €30-35m and Kurt Zouma for Kounde, while personal terms were already in place if Chelsea were to get the green light from the Spanish side.

Zouma may want to stay in the Premier League but it is understood that Chelsea will ‘do whatever it takes’ to sign Kounde this summer.

And now ‘talkSPORT’s European football expert’ Brassell claims that the possibility of Kounde joining the Blues “feels a bit like the Jadon Sancho deal” that saw him join Manchester United this summer.

“It’s very likely because for Sevilla, it’s part of their model to make a deal,” Brassell told talkSPORT.

“He’s been there for two years, they paid a lot for him in the first place and a lot of eyebrows were raised when they signed him for £21m.

“Sevilla can get their replacement in Kurt Zouma, who Monchi – the sporting director at Sevilla – has liked for a very long time.

“He’s a player who wouldn’t be accessible to them – so they would get the cash and a high-quality replacement.

“They’re also looking at the possibility of bringing in Jerome Boateng, who is available for free after leaving Bayern Munich.

“The Kounde deal feels a bit like the Jadon Sancho deal, one that would suit all parties – and he’ll become one hell of a player.”

Brassell continued: “They said to Man City last summer – in a move which helped them win the Premier League – if you’re not paying the £68m buyout clause, it’s not happening.

“So they moved onto Ruben Dias after Benfica went out of the Champions League and we know how that worked out for Man City.

“I think it worked out for Kounde as well. It allowed him a year longer to play in LaLiga, to taste the Champions League, to play at right-back as well.”
