‘Fantastic news’ – Nuno reacts as Kane confirms Spurs decision
Nuno Espirito Santo has reacted after star striker Harry Kane confirmed his decision to remain at Tottenham this summer.
The England captain has been heavily linked with Manchester City in recent months, despite his £160million price tag.
Pep Guardiola confirmed that City were interested in signing him on August 6, although a deal was dependent on Spurs.
Of course anti-vaxxers have spread to paranoia of football
Chairman Daniel Levy has held firm and reminded Kane of the six-year contract he signed back in June 2018.
After the 28-year-old said he was ‘100 per cent focused on Spurs’, Nuno said: “Great news. Fantastic news.
“I think since Harry joined us he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been excellent.
“It’s finished, Harry is going to be with us. He is an option for tomorrow. It is great news for everybody. We are all very happy one of the best players in the world. Delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us.”
Kane’s mention of ‘this summer’ has led to questions over whether he could move in a future transfer window.
When asked about this, Nuno continued: “I am not worried at all. It’s day by day, he’s an option for tomorrow. It’s the only thing, my only thought. I am not going to say what we speak about. It’s between us.”
Speaking about how difficult it would be to reintegrate Kane into the squad, the manager added: “I think it’s up to us and everybody, and the player himself, to get his motivation.
“There should not be any kind of doubts in terms of motivation to play for Spurs. Amazing club, good team. We are in a process and we need everybody involved.”
The player has scored an impressive 221 goals in 337 games for Spurs since making his first-team debut in August 2011.
However, in that time the club has failed to win a single trophy. They reached the Champions League final in 2019 but were beaten by Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Their trophy-less run was the main reason for Kane attempting to engineer a move away from north London.
He will now turn his attention to the Premier League campaign. Spurs are also part of the inaugural Europa Conference League after finishing seventh in the table last season.
