Europe’s most in-form teams: Man Utd fourth, Liverpool languishing…

The only logical conclusion to this is that Man Utd are better than Liverpool. So too are City, Arsenal and Sheffield United.

Manchester United’s recent form has certainly caught the eye. Their derby win over Manchester City on Sunday – about which we’ve drawn 16 Conclusions – was their seventh win in 10 games in all competitions and with no defeats in that time, the Red Devils are the Premier League’s most in-form side.

Only Bayern Munich can equal United’s 10-game unbeaten run, but no one can match their defensive record. United have conceded only two goals since losing 2-0 at home to Burnley on January 22. Sheffield United have been the second-most stingy team in Europe having conceded three times as many goals as United.

In the same period, runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool have conceded 11 goals while winning only 60% of their matches. The Reds have drawn with Shrewsbury and lost in three different competitions to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Watford. Which can mean only one thing: they’re sh*t.

Here is the form table for the last 10 games in all competitions for teams in the top five European leagues…
