It didn’t take long for Fellaini to be linked with a move to Tottenham to reunite with his former boss, but while he hailed Mourinho, he insisted he was happy at Chinese side Shandong Luneng, for whom he has scored 12 goals in 32 games.
Fellaini admitted he is still in regular contact with his old mentor, who he has the utmost respect for.
“Jose is special for me,” said Fellaini. “We text each other, we call each other from time to time.
“He’s taken over Spurs and he’s doing well. I wish him all the best. But I am good where I am now.”
Although Fellaini has insisted he is settled at Shandong Luneng, his remarks do suggest he could be persuaded to return to the Premier League if Mourinho were to come calling.
Despite rumours suggesting Mourinho is looking to bring in new players in January, reports have claimed Daniel Levy will not allow him to spend much money in the winter transfer window.
