Jack Wilshere is on the verge of signing for Turkish side Fenerbahce on a free transfer from Arsenal, according to reports.

The England international announced over the last couple of weeks that he would be ending his long association with the Gunners when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Wilshere was told by new Gunners boss Unai Emery that he wouldn’t be able to guarantee him regular game time this season and the midfielder made the decision to move on.

Turkish news agency DHA claims that Wilshere has been to Istanbul, visited the stadium and is now looking for a house.

The report also said: “An agreement was found and the deal is expected to be announced in the coming days.”

Tycoon Ali Koc replaced long-term chairman Aziz Yildirim earlier this month and now Wilshere could be his first new signing.

Phillip Cocu is the new boss at Fenerbahce, while Damien Comolli – who has worked at various English clubs including Liverpool – has joined as director of football.
