Fenerbahce have ‘reached an agreement in principle’ as they they look to end Mesut Ozil’s misery at Arsenal, according to reports.

Ozil is yet to feature for Arsenal this season, his most recent appearance for the Gunners coming in March, pre-lockdown.

The German has been ostracised by Arteta for seemingly falling short of the manager’s non-negotiables – although Ozil is ‘convinced’ he is being punished for his outspoken nature.

Today’s Gossip colum brought us news that talks are at an advanced stage over a move to MLS with DC United with Ozil looking to end his time in north London.

However, A Spor (via Sport Witness) expect Ozil to sign for Fenerbahce with the outlet claiming that the Turkish have ‘reached an agreement in principle’ with the Arsenal playmaker.

The report adds that there have been ‘bomb developments’ over their pursuit of Ozil with the transfer one that supporters have ‘long dreamed of’.

‘Ozil is expected to be in front of the camera with his Fenerbahçe kit soon’ with a three-and-a-half-year contract being agreed.

The German released a statement last year saying he was “deeply disappointed” not to have been included in the 25-man Premier League squad and believes his loyalty to the club had not been reciprocated.

“This is a difficult message to write to the Arsenal fans that I’ve played for over the past few years,” Ozil wrote in a statement posted on social media.

“I’m really deeply disappointed by the fact that I have not been registered for the Premier League season for the time being.

“Upon signing my new contract in 2018, I pledged my loyalty and allegiance to the club that I love, Arsenal, and it saddens me that this has not been reciprocated.”
