Rio Ferdinand thinks Man Utd and any other interested party should look no further than Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos this summer.
The Red Devils have been looking into buying a new centre-back for many months with doubts growing over Victor Lindelof’s capabilities.
However, their defence has been much more convincing this season and with Eric Bailly signing a new deal there is some doubt as to whether they will now invest elsewhere.
Marquinhos has stood out for PSG in the big matches this season, scoring in their recent matches against Man City in the Champions League.
And with Ferdinand aware Man Utd and Chelsea could be on the lookout for a new centre-back this summer, he has recommended the Brazilian.
“If any team is in the market for a centre-back, right now, out of the top teams, with the finances, Marquinhos is the only place I’m going,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube show.
“Big-game player. Every big game you see that guy play he turns up. Fit as you like, quick, robust, hardened, battle-hardened, understands the big-game environments. Top, top player, great attitude, leader, got it all.
“If I’m looking for a centre-back of experience who can take me to the next level, he’s the one I’m going for.”
Another player Man Utd have been linked with is Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who has eight goals and nine assists this season in the Bundesliga.
And former Man Utd centre-back Ferdinand is desperate to see the Red Devils or another club take a chance on the England international this summer.
When asked about Sancho, Ferdinand added: “For the third season on the spin he’s got 30+ goal involvements.
“This is for a 21-year-old kid! I don’t care where he’s playing, he’s in the Bundesliga, it’s ridiculous for anyone to be saying he shouldn’t be in the England squad.
“The kid is the real deal and someone like Man United or whoever, one of the top teams, has to go out and get this boy because he brings the playground to the stadiums.”
