Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand admits he was wrong to be “sceptical” about the signing of Christian Eriksen this summer.
The Red Devils beat Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday to move fifth in the Premier League table and make it four wins in a row after a rotten start to the Premier League.
Man Utd lost their first two matches to Brighton and Brentford but things are looking rosy again at Old Trafford after wins over Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and now Arsenal.
A debut goal from Antony and a brace from Marcus Rashford secured all three points for Erik ten Hag’s men but Ferdinand thinks Eriksen was man of the match.
The Denmark international signed for Man Utd on a free transfer this summer after spending the second half of last season at Brentford.
Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel: “Can I give a special, special shout out to my man of the match Christian Eriksen?
“I have to hold my hand up I was one of those who was sceptical about the signing. It’s another signing I’m sure from Erik ten Hag it was his decision to take him.
“At the moment you cannot argue with that decision. In the game today his passing, the first one when he wrapped it with the eyes took out about five players in the Arsenal team.
“The other one where he plays it to Bruno and he puts it in for Rashford and obviously the assist. His forward passing is up there with the best in the league at the moment.
“I was a bit sceptical asking what’s he going to bring, is he going to start? Well yes he’s starting and yes he’s producing so Eriksen I salute you.”
Rashford was in rotten form last campaign, like many of his Man Utd team-mates, but the 24-year-old now has three goals and two assists to his name in six matches so far this term.
And Man Utd boss Ten Hag was pleased with his performance against Arsenal, he said: “Marcus played a pressing game and he transferred really good.
“But we expect of him as a striker to be a target, dropping, to play over, linking, running behind, arriving in the box and of course scoring goals.
“I am really happy with the performance, it shows his development. Room for improvement is clear but he has great capabilities so I am happy with having him in the team.”
