Fernandes, Shaw honoured in Man United season awards
Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw scooped the gongs as the Manchester United season awards were announced. Fernandes won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the second year in a row, having notched 28 goals and 17 assists in 56 appearances this season. He won two Player of the Month awards and 12 Man of the Match accolades along the way.

He joins David de Gea, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Roy Keane and Eric Cantona as multiple winners of the award having won 63% of the fan vote.

Fernandes also claimed the award for United’s Goal of the Season, for his strike against Everton back in February.

But it wasn’t a clean sweep for the Portuguese star at the award ceremony, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad snubbing him as they voted for their Players’ Player of the Year. That honour was bestowed on Luke Shaw.

The left-back has been in outstanding form all season, forcing his way back into England contention through is quality both defensively and on the front foot.
