Feyenoord boss jibes Arteta over training after Nelson injury
Feynoord boss Arne Slot has questioned the training methods of Mikel Arteta after Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson suffered an injury with his new club.
The 21-year-old forward joined the Dutch side this summer, but missed the club’s 0-0 draw with Maccabi Haifa in the Europa Conference League on Tuesday.

And Slot revealed that Nelson picked up an injury after struggling to adapt to the increased intensity of Feyenoord’s training sessions.
“Nelson had participated in almost all training sessions at Arsenal, but he experiences the training here as a bit more intense,” Slot said ahead of the visit to Israel.
“He suffered an overuse injury and so he is not here. Whether he will make it to PSV [Feyenoord’s next Eredivisie fixture on Sunday] remains to be seen – at least not as a starting player.”
Nelson is yet to make an appearance for his new club and it’s not clear how long he will be out of action.
Meanwhile, Brentford striker Ivan Toney – linked with a move to Arsenal – claims the Gunners aren’t the team they used to be and can’t “see them winning nothing any time soon”.
He said: “Arsenal fans are going to batter me for this, but you see Arsenal at the moment and they’re not the best.
“There was a difference [between the Championship and the Premier League], don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t crazy like: if you make a mistake, it’s going to end up in the back of the goal.
“I didn’t really see that. They were good at keeping the ball, but it didn’t really affect us.
“They weren’t as crazy as I thought [they would be]. I don’t know if it was [whether] they weren’t so good or we were just excited as it was our first game and it was Arsenal and Premier League [and] all these things coming into the picture.
“I just didn’t see them how they used to be. You used to look at Arsenal and think [they were] crazy and they were going to win this game, win this game.
“These days, I don’t see them winning nothing any time soon.”
