Former boss explains how Aubameyang forced Arsenal move

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Stoger has explained how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left him no choice but to sell him to Arsenal.

The Gabon international has been in brilliant form since joining the Gunners with 17 goals in 23 Premier League matches after 98 in 144 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund.

He moved to Arsenal last January for a fee of £56million despite the Germans wanting to keep him at the club for another six months.

And Stoger has revealed how Aubameyang‘s refusal to train properly in some sessions meant that they were forced to sell him.

“He left me no other choice,” Stoger told Sport Bild.

“He trained well four days of the week. But to underline his wish for a transfer, he skipped team meetings before games or refused to run during the final training.

“We did our best to keep him for at least another half a year, but Auba wasn’t ready for that.”
