Jurgen Klopp “would be ready” to take over as Bayern Munich manager, according to Christoph Metzelder.
Bayern are searching for a new manager after sacking Carlo Ancelotti last week.
Willy Sagnol has been placed in temporary charge, with Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel tipped for the permanent job.
Klopp has also emerged as a candidate, and Pep Guardiola knows who Bayern have chosen.
Metzelder, whose spell with Dortmund ended a year before Klopp was appointed manager there, believes his fellow German would suit the role.
“From my point of view, Jurgen Klopp would be ready,” he told Sky Sports in Germany.
“He is a top man-manager and could make the complex power relationship work wonderfully.
“Nagelsmann is an outstanding trainer, but Bayern Munich is of course a different size.”
