Former striker names Man Utd’s only world class player

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha claims that the club only have one world class player in the form of compatriot Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils midfielder has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, which now seems very unlikely with the European transfer deadline looming.

A report last Friday claimed that Pogba ‘regrets’ not forcing a move away from United this summer after the club’s mixed start to the Premier League season.

United have started the campaign with a win, a loss and two draws, which sees them seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool after only four matches.

Pogba has been criticised for some of his displays this term and Saha thinks the midfielder has unfairly become the scapegoat.

“He’s got the potential to be one of the best – Ballon d’Or potential,” Saha told Astro SuperSport.

“No disrespect to the other players but he could say ‘I’m the only one here who could claim to be a world-class player right now’. At the same time, he’s always going to be on the spot because he is the only one.

“If he doesn’t perform there’s no-one that’s going to be asked more from. Pogba tries his best but sometimes there’s no-one there to help him.

“And who’s going to get criticised for not performing? It’s going to be Pogba.”
