Lampard has called on his players to be more ruthless in front of goal, which is a message he has reiterated as Chelsea continue to be linked with striking reinforcements in January.
“I think the impetus to bring in a striker or a player to get on the end of chances is there,” Lampard said.
“The recent games have shown that. When you are creating 20 chances a game it is clear.”
Lampard confirmed that frontline striker Tammy Abraham will miss Chelsea’s FA Cup fourth round tie with Hull City this weekend after he limped away from Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in midweek.
And speaking ahead of the game , Lampard has given a fresh update on the striker’s situation:
“The good news is he hasn’t fractured anything, we were worried about a hairline fracture,” he said.
“The other news is we still have to see how he develops. It’s not a clear-cut one.
“He’s not fit for the weekend, but whether he’ll be fit for Leicester after that I’m still not sure. It’s still not clear at the moment.”
