Fulham have made a bid for Man Utd defender Eric Bailly but they face strong competitions from Spanish side Sevilla, according to reports.

The Red Devils are ready for a big clearout of fringe players this summer with the Daily Mail insisting earlier today that Alex Telles, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Ethan Laird and Phil Jones ‘are all surplus to requirements at Old Trafford’.

Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata have already left on free transfers and now Erik ten Hag can concentrate on selling other players who are unlikely to feature this season.

Manchester United need Ten Hag to roll successive double-sixes for them this season

Bailly joined Man Utd from Villarreal in 2016 for a reported £30m but his spell at Old Trafford hasn’t gone to plan with the Ivory Coast international suffering from a number of injuries.

He played 25 times in the Premier League in his debut season for Man Utd but he hasn’t managed to get near that since, playing another 45 times in the league over the next five campaigns.

Bailly played just seven times in all competitions last term and the purchase of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez – who played under Ten Hag in the Netherlands – means he has dropped further down the pecking order.

Despite that, he is still a highly sought-after player with Football Insider claiming that newly-promoted Fulham have made ‘an offer’ for Bailly.

Fulham have apparently also tabled offers for West Ham’s Issa Diop and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr as they look to sign a new centre-back ahead of the new campaign.

It is understood that the Cottagers will ‘face a fight to convince the 28-year-old to move to Craven Cottage with Sevilla and Roma also vying for his signature’.

And Spanish website Estadio Deportivo reckon Sevilla don’t just want Bailly, they are after a double deal for him and Telles this summer.

The La Liga club want Telles ‘as an alternative’ option to Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon with any deal expected to be ‘similar to the one that brought Anthony Martial to Nervión a few months ago’.

They add that Bailly has been ‘put on a platter and has been offered in recent hours’ to Sevilla with the report insisting that Ten Hag ‘doesn’t have him and the Red Devils are trying to find him a team’.

Bailly has been in their ‘crosshairs on several occasions’ with Sevilla looking to secure ‘one of the pearls of the market’ just over a year ago before he renewed his deal at Old Trafford.
