Liverpool U18s boss Steven Gerrard has admitted to holding “positive talks” with Rangers over their vacant managerial role.
Rumours on Monday suggested that the Old Firm club are closing on the appointment of the Liverpool legend as their next manager.
This speculation was further fuelled when Graeme Murty was sacked by the Ibrox club on Tuesday.
Asked about the possibility of taking the job, Gerrard told BT Sport: “There’s truth in the rumours. I’ve held initial talks with Rangers and the plan is to pick them up in a couple of days’ time.
“We’ll see. I’ve held positive talks with them, I’m busy for a couple of days but I’ll pick them up on Thursday and we’ll see if we can progress them.”
