Gerrard discusses future, why he turned down MK Dons

Steven Gerrard admits he spoke to MK Dons about their vacant managerial position, but that he turned them down.

Gerrard emerged as a surprise contender to replace ousted manager Karl Robinson at League One side MK Dons earlier this month.

The former England international spoke to the side, but says that the position came “a bit too soon for me”.

“I spoke to them,” he told BT Sport. “I had a chat with the chairman. It’s a very exciting job for someone else.

“It’s a bit soon for me. But it is true, I did speak to them.”

The 36-year-old then discussed what his future could hold.

Gerrard is currently without a club after ending his stay in MLS with LA Galaxy, and has a number of options available to him.

A possible coaching role with Liverpool has been touted, while Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic and Inter Milan are rumoured to be interested.

The Premier League legend is in no rush to decide his future just yet, however.

“I’m just taking a bit of time to consider what’s next,” he said. “Exciting times moving forward.”
