Steven Gerrard poured praise on Marcus Rashford, but regrets that he plays for Manchester United.
Rashford continued his fine start to the season on Tuesday with a goal in United’s 3-0 Champions League win over Basel.
It continues a remarkable run of scoring on competition debuts for the 19-year-old, who now has three strikes in six games this campaign.

Speaking to BT Sport after United’s win, Liverpool legend Gerrard hailed the England international.
“I think he’s very good, he has a huge future ahead of him,” he said.
“It’s great that he’s English. Not so good he’s a Manchester United player from my point of view.
“He’s got pace, he’s got everything to his game, he scores all kinds of goals.”
“We spoke a few weeks ago about Trent Alexander-Arnold having the courage and the character to step up while there’s big names around to take free-kicks and credit to the kid having that bottle.”
