GUNNERS GO FOR ANOTHER GOALKEEPER
Seemingly not content with having two No.1 goalkeepers, Unai Emery apparently wants a third.
The Arsenal manager is being linked with a move for Real Madrid’s out-of-favour stopper Keylor Navas, who has been relegated to the role of back-up following Thibaut Courtois‘ arrival from Chelsea in the summer.
Sport reckons the Gunners are leading the chase for the Chilean, who is only now coming to the conclusion that Real don’t want him – three and a half years after they tried their hardest to shuffle him off to Man Utd.
Roma are also sniffing around Navas but Arsenal have submitted a £14million offer for the 32-year-old, who has managed the sum total of eight first-team games this season.
Navas was being phased out by Real after Courtois’ arrival similarly to the approach Emery took with Petr Cech and summer arrival Bernd Leno. No doubt they’ll both be absolutely thrilled to hear of the interest in Navas…
TOFFEES CHEW OVER MALCOM MOVE
The path between Barcelona and Merseyside was a well-trodden one in the summer, with Everton seemingly keen to sign all Barca’s fringe players. And, apparently, they are sticking with that approach to their recruitment.
According to Marca, the Toffees’ latest target is Malcom, the Brazil winger who has underwhelmed everyone since opting to join Barca over Roma during the summer.
Everton aren’t the only club interested in offering Malcom a quick getaway. Goal says Guangzhou Evergrande are willing to make a £45million offer that would see Barca make a profit of around £9million in half a season.
Malcom, though, would prefer to give it at least a full season before writing off his Barca career. Whether the club are willing to remain quite as patient in the face of tempting offers remains to be seen.
