…just about any other centre-half who is not an absolute muppet. According to The Sun, Unai Emery wants a proper defender next season, having grown understandably tired of watching Shkodran Mustafi be absolute bobbins.

The other names mentioned are Leicester’s Harry Maguire, Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Getafe’s Djene Dakonam.

Elsewhere, the Evening Standard claim that Arsenal have been told that they will need to pay £17.2m for PSG youngster Christopher Nkunku, who can apparently play in central midfield or on the wing. Or centre-half? Can he play centre-half?

According to the front cover of Spanish newspaper AS, Christian Eriksen has agreed to join Real Madrid this summer. All we know about his wages is that it will be more than he earns at Tottenham, which seems reasonable. But of course the easy part of this transfer was always going to be the persuasion of Eriksen; the hard work is in agreeing a price with Tottenham. The north London club are asking for £129m but that’s hardly realistic while the Dane has just a year left on his contract.

Coming in to Spurs might be Ryan Sessegnon, who is being coveted by PSG, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund but would – according to the Evening Standard – prefer to stay in London and join Spurs. The price is likely to be around £25m as the left winger/wing-back is out of contract next summer.

Because what Manchester City definitely need is another brilliant attacking midfielder. According to A Bola, the English champions are about to make a formal offer for the Sporting captain who has scored 16 goals in the Portuguese league this season.
