Gossip: De Gea to join Man Utd exodus to Italy?

DE GEA TO…DE ITALY?
It’s always been assumed that if David De Gea were to leave Manchester United, then it would be to return home to Spain, and most likely to Real Madrid.

Gazzetta Dello Sport has a different spin on that, though. They note that De Gea is yet to sign his long-awaited contract extension – fair enough, why would he at the moment? – and believe that Juventus are interested in taking him to Turin for free at the end of the season.

It’s an interesting situation because, by all accounts, a new contract has been agreed with United in principle; De Gea just hasn’t signed it. What remains to be seen is what happens in January, when the player becomes free to negotiate with other clubs – how long will United’s offer stand for?

WEST HAM TO SIGN ANOTHER FORWARD
Some slightly strange chatter from The Mirror, who have West Ham pursuing Mario Mandzukic when the transfer window re-opens. That Mandzukic is available seems clear enough, his time at Juventus is likely done and he was fairly close to leaving over the summer, but West Ham?

Sebastien Haller has very clearly been signed as a first-choice striker, with Albian Ajeti available as a back-up, and despite the recent sale of Javier Hernandez, there seems no obvious need for another high wage-earner in that position.

EMRE CAN ALREADY FINISHED AT JUVE
Juventus are certainly in the process of a clear-out and another player they evidently want rid of is Emre Can who, of course, was left out of the club’s Champions League squad.

Goal report that he isn’t best pleased about that, either.

“It was very shocking for me because last week I was told and promised something else. Yesterday I got a call from the coach, in which he told me in less than a minute and without explanation that I was not in the squad. I can not explain it, nobody has given me a reason until now.

“Me and my agent had talks with other clubs, Paris as well.”

Paris Saint-Germain, Emre? Really?

Most likely, it’s Maurizio Sarri being Maurizio Sarri and 2018’s Danny Drinkwater is just 2019’s Emre Can.

AND THE REST
Barcelona tried to sign Lucas Moura over the summer (how bizarre)… Neymar was left in tears after his Barcelona transfer collapsed… Bayern Munich are coming back in January for Leroy Sane… Atletico Madrid will also try to sign Christian Eriksen once the window re-opens… Bruno Fernandes will be signing a new contract with Sporting Lisbon.
