Gossip: Fekir deal on; confusion over Jorginho

Nabil Fekir to Liverpool is back on. It was never really off…

The Mirror is reporting that Fekir and his representatives have made it crystal clear to Lyon that they still wish to complete the deal which fell through at the 11th hour last month.

Jean Michel Aulas claimed he pulled the plug on the agreement because Liverpool were taking too long to wrap it up, which was plainly b*llocks. The Reds got cold feet because of a concern over a previous knee operation.

Fekir has since been in Russia with the France squad but once the final is out of the way this weekend, he wants to make his belated move.

But Liverpool won’t do it under the terms of the previous deal. They are still content to cough up the £53million agreed – but not up front. The Reds want the payment spread over the length of Fekir’s five-year contract, which is said to be worth £120,000 a week to the 21-year-old, and dependent on his continued fitness.

Chelsea are said to have agreed a double deal with Napoli for a player and a manager.

Maurizio Sarri seems set to take over at Stamford Bridge – finally – after the Blues also agreed to stump up £57.4million for Jorginho.

That’s the line being pushed by the Evening Standard which reports that Chelsea will cough up £51.25million for the midfielder immediately and £6.18million in add-ons. Apparently, the compo for taking Sarri is also included in that amount.

Chelsea appear to have beaten Man City to the Italy international, with the champions only willing to pay £48.6million in instalments. According to the Manchester Evening News, though, City remain adamant that Jorginho still wants to move to the Etihad.

All of this obviously doesn’t take into account the fact that Chelsea, quite unbelievably, still have a manager…
