Gossip: Five clubs want to sign unhappy Martial

MARTIAL IS OFF THIS SUMMER
There is an awful lot of Anthony Martial in Wednesday’s newspapers, and none of it is good for those Manchester United supporters who have his name on the back of their shirts. Let’s have a mini round-up:

– The biggest news comes from RMC in France, and they are particularly well-connected. They say that Martial has turned down an offer of a five-year contract, and is looking to leave Manchester United this summer. He’s peeved at the lack of regular starts.

– The Independent take a slightly different route to the same conclusion, saying that Martial would like to stay at Manchester United, but that Jose Mourinho may well deem that he is surplus to requirements and look to cash in on him this summer.

– The Independent also give us a list of three clubs who would potentially be interested in signing Martial. They are Juventus, Paris St-Germain and Atletico Madrid, and those all make some degree of sense.

– Finally, the Daily Telegraph add two more clubs to that list. Inter are one, and Tottenham are the other. Tottenham would be particularly intriguing, as they don’t really play with an out-and-out wide forward. Where does Martial fit into that attack?

JUVENTUS WANT DEMBELE
Talking of Tottenham takes us to the Evening Standard, and their claim that Juventus are interested in signing Mousa Dembele this summer. That’s because they are becoming increasingly frustrated at Emre Can’s dithering over his decision of who to leave Liverpool for this summer.

Tom Collomosse writes that Juventus were mightily impressed by Dembele across both leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, and are aware that his contract situation is a little uncertain. Now 30, Dembele’s current deal expires at the end of next season, but the Belgian has shelved contract talks until after the World Cup. Could Spurs cash in?

RICHARLISON ATTRACTING MAJOR INTEREST
Richarlison’s form has certainly tailed off since his wonderful start to life in English football, but there’s still plenty to like about the Brazilian. He’s still only 20 years old, and he settled into life in England incredibly quickly. It’s also worth pointing out that he’s played football for 12 months without a gap, having flown to England at the end of the Brazilian season.

Unsurprisingly, there’s now talk that he could be the subject of major interest this summer, and you’d have to think that he sees Watford as a stepping stone to bigger things. Sky Sports report that Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton are all pondering making a move for Richarlison.

Surely he shouldn’t go to either of the first two, where he’s just going to get lost and struggle for league minutes? As a forward comfortable of playing wide left, Manchester United have got at least three players in that same position who would consider themselves as above Richarlison in the pecking order.

AND THE REST
West Ham and Everton are interested in signing Shinji Kagawa for a fee of £12m… Liverpool and Tottenham want to sign Norwich’s James Maddison and Josh Murphy… Ryan Bertrand will leave Southampton this summer… Alvaro Morata could rejoin Juventus after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
