MAN UNITED TURN TO MBAPPE AND LEWANDOWSKI
To be fair, they are not terrible back-up options. Manchester United have realised that signing Antoine Griezmann is not going to be easy so they are casting around for other options, with The Independent suggesting that Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski are alternatives.
Personal terms have apparently been agreed with Griezmann’s agents, but the Independent says a move would be ‘particularly tough due to the terms of his contract and the Spanish club’s total unwillingness to sell in a year when they also move stadium’.
The 18-year-old Mbappe – likened to Thierry Henry by Arsene Wenger – is one option but stand by for one of the mos depressing sentences of our time on Lewandowski: ‘A move for the Polish striker would synch with United’s commercial aims around the team.’
Oh and he scores a lot of goals.
KROOS MIGHT FANCY MAN UNITED MOVE. BUT…
According to the Daily Star (who have been reading Diario Gol), Toni Kroos does like the idea of Manchester United, but will only leave Real Madrid if they do not win any trophies this season. Which sounds like utter nonsense to us. Who leaves one of the biggest clubs in the world because they have one bad season, to join a club who are not even guaranteed Champions League football. Is he a massive fan of the League Cup?
CHELSEA AND MAN CITY WANT GIBSON
If we are to believe the gossip of the last few months, Michael Keane and Ben Gibson will cost Premier League clubs a combined £60m this summer despite the fact that neither has played for England. Astonishing.
Gibson is the subject of Tuesday’s gossip, with The Sun claiming that both Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in building their defence around Gibson, who has been brilliant for Middlesbrough in their battle against relegation.
