Gossip: Lacazette could cost Arsenal £60m; Morata bid

Arsenal have apparently been told by Lyon that striker Alexandre Lacazette will cost them an initial £48.7 million and then another £10.6m in add-ons if the move is a success. The Daily Telegraph claim that talks have taken place between the two clubs as Arsene Wenger once again moves for the Frenchman.

But this sentence is telling: ‘There is some caution from those close to Lacazette about Arsenal’s interest given they held talks last year and were unable to agree a deal despite initial suggestions that they would meet Lyon’s asking price.’

They don’t want to be led up the garden path again.

We are pretty sure we are not imagining that this time last week, it was being reported that a deal had been agreed for Alvaro Morata, and yet here we are again with the Daily Mail claiming that Manchester United ‘have lodged a bid for Alvaro Morata as their aggressive transfer strategy begins to take hold’. The Spanish striker is expected to join for a fee in the region of £70m.

Morata is reportedly keen to get his future sorted within the next two weeks, while United are eager to add to the £30.7m signing of Victor Lindelof, which is expected to be completed this week.

There are reports in Germany that United have joined Arsenal and Chelsea in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, but that would seem unlikely given the signing of Lindelof.

Jean Michaël Seri is the Nice midfielder strongly linked with Arsenal (and Barcelona, Roma and PSG) but now it seems that Tottenham have made the first move for a player who notched seven goals and nine assists in Ligue Un last season.

Nice want around £35m for Ivory Coast midfielder Seri, who is said to be a target for Mauricio Pochettino as he looks for squad depth after two years of basically flogging the same players to death.
