HI HO SILVA…
We are always suspicious of online Sun exclusives but honestly, we are just happy for some semblance of new gossip on a Monday morning in November, And who’s to say that Liverpool and Inter Milan are not ‘plotting a sensational swoop’ for David Silva? He is wonderful, after all.
But we cannot help thinking that Manchester City may be ever so slightly reluctant to allow the Premier League’s leading assist-maker to leave for rivals either in England or Europe.
Apparently, ‘Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is admirer of Silva and views the schemer as an alternative to injured Adam Lallana’. Is he always going to be injured?
DE JONG ONES
Not Nigel de Jong (wasn’t he great?) or Siem de Jong (wasn’t he forgettable?) but Ajax central midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who is said by The Sun to be a target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in January. The 20-year-old could apparently move for as little as £5m. Or Ajax ‘could hold out for a bigger fee or offer De Jong fresh terms after his emergence as a major prospect’. We suspect they probably will hold out for a bigger fee if that is an option.
This story has definitely not just been leaked by his agent to encourage Ajax to start playing him; he has not started in the Eredivisie since September.
Well, above West Brom at least, with The Sun reporting that Everton have joined Manchester City in being interested in Jonny Evans, who is understandably keen to leave the Hawthorns. The price will, though, be ‘huge’; does that mean the Baggies will ask for even more than the £35m that scared off City in the summer?
The Sun also say that Everton are interested in Preston left-back Josh Earl, who is seen as a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.
