Gossip: Liverpool’s £41m bid, Bale to United, Costa

Matt Stead

Ever heard of El Partidazo de Cope. No? Have you been living under a rock for the past few years? They have some large transfer news for us with regards to Liverpool.

The radio station claims that the Reds have bid around £41million in order to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio. Asensio is good at the football, and has scored nine goals in 29 games this season, including a strike against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg earlier this week.

It was after that game that reports emanated concerning Liverpool’s interest, with Spanish newspaper AS corroborating claims of a bid. There are two problems, mind you: Real don’t want to sell, and Asensio doesn’t want to leave. So that’s that.

Prepare to see this next story billed as a ‘Manchester United insider’ recommending some sort of transfer deal for the club. Former Reds assistant Rene Meulensteen has been speaking to talkSPORT.

“You can’t stop the speculation – it won’t go away,” he said on Thursday, thereby fuelling the speculation. “As a manager you have to say, ‘OK, what is really the case here with De Gea? Does he want to go? Is he going? What is the best scenario for us?”

The “best scenario” for United, according to Meulensteen, is for them to insist that Gareth Bale is part of any deal which sees De Gea leave Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

So if you see any stories about United being interested in Bale, you know who to blame. We’re looking at you, Rene.

‘Chelsea are losing patience with Diego Costa and will consider selling him this summer.’

How’s that for a goddamn first sentence? The London Evening Standard report that Chelsea are essentially just getting a little bit tired of Diego Costa’s sh*t, and might get rid this summer.

With Chinese Super League clubs continuing to circle the striker, the Blues could look to cash in. He is in the midst of perhaps his worst run of form in a Chelsea shirt since joining, and Antonio Conte’s side have hatched a plan.

If Costa goes, in comes Romelu Lukaku. Simple. And that is a deal which will be made easier with Everton’s interest in Tammy Abraham, the Blues forward who has impressed on loan at Bristol City this season. Everyone’s happy.
