CITY AGREE CUT-PRICE MAGUIRE MOVE
Aside from the hilarious revelation that Manchester United offered £40million for Harry Maguire last week, it seems there have been further developments in race for the Leicester defender.

The Daily Star are among a number of outlets claiming Manchester City are ducking for the line having agreed a deal worth £65million. So confident are City of landing Maguire, they have pencilled the 26-year-old in for a medical next week.

It is entirely feasible that City are making plans for Maguire but there is something fishy about the supposed value of the deal. Leicester were expecting Virgil van Dijk money last summer, so why they would accept £10million lower than that after another impressive season for the centre-back during which he signed a new contract?

LeicestershireLive has countered the Daily Star story by reporting that the Foxes would not consider a sale for less than £75m. They also suggest that vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha would only sign off on a deal that was closer to £100million.

COUTINHO RETURNING TO REDS?
Speaking of unfathomable deals, Liverpool are interested in re-signing Philippe Coutinho, apparently.

That is the word according to Le 10 Sport, which suggests the Reds are among three Premier League clubs sniffing around the Barca flop. Manchester United are one, and we know Coutinho isn’t going there. Chelsea are another, and we know he probably can’t go there either. Which leaves Liverpool.

The finances make no sense for the Reds. Barca will be looking for a fee in excess of £100m having paid around £142m for Coutinho in January 2018. In addition to that outlay, the playmaker is said to be pulling in around £200,000 a week after tax at the Nou Camp. It isn’t happening.

NEYMAR BATTLE BUBBLING UP
Coutinho may not return to the Premier League but Barca are certainly keen to get rid. Especially if they want Neymar back…

Sport claims Neymar is pushing hard to return to the Nou Camp, going so far as to inform PSG that he has no desire or intention of playing for the Ligue 1 champions again. The poor wee lamb was never happy in Paris and regretted leaving Barca withing weeks of his world record move in 2017.

Barca seem open to reunion but they have two problems. Firstly, PSG would expect their money back. Secondly, Real Madrid are looking to stir sh*t up,

Real are reported to have already submitted an offer to PSG for Neymar. Mundo Deportivo reckons the bid involves £115.5million in cold hard cash plus the choice of either Gareth Bale or James Rodriguez.
