This story comes with a note of caution as the word ‘could’ is used twice – and once as early as the opening paragraph – and the phrase ‘appears to be’ is also used twice, but September transfer beggars cannot be choosers so we start with the claim in the Daily Mirror that Eric Bailly could leave Manchester United in January and both Arsenal and Tottenham may be interested.
Obviously there is a fair bit of 2+2 stuff going on here because Bailly has been once again made a scapegoat for a Manchester United defeat – in this case to Brighton – by Jose Mourinho. But it could be true even if it appears to be a flyer.
RABIOT IN DEMAND
The real surprise in this story – that comes from website Paris United – is that Liverpool are not mentioned as a possible destination for PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. They claim that there are four clubs sniffing around the Frenchman and none of them are the club said to have already been in contact with both the player himself and PSG.
The four clubs named by Paris United are Manchester City, Tottenham, Juventus and Barcelona. Spurs’ need is probably the greatest after that performance on Saturday.
BETTER CALL SOMEBODY ELSE
The word out of Spain – from El Confidencial – is that Saul Niguez has no wish to leave Atletico Madrid, despite long-standing rumours trhat he is a target for Barcelona. To his credit, he wants to stay and establish himself as a legend at the club. He is already well on his way.
So that could strengthen Barcelona’s interest in Rabiot. Bad luck Spurs.
