Gossip: Man United competition for Bale and Griezmann

This has been said before but The Gambling Times have come up with a new line: ‘Sources close to Real Madrid have told me that the Premier League champions have asked their Spanish counterparts to keep them informed about the Welsh star.’ Apparently, Bale may not be a ‘fist-team regular’ for too much longer. To be fair, we’re not sure we would want to be a fist-team regular either, though regular fisting would presumably mean it gets easier over time.

Although Manchester United are always said to be the favourites to land Bale, it seems Chelsea are also interested. This of course neatly links with repeated Spanish claims that Eden Hazard is a target for Real Madrid. There may be a deal to be done next summer.

Another Manchester United target is of course Antoine Griezmann, with Spanish newspaper Sport now claiming that they face rather serious competition from Manchester City and Barcelona. Now United might need the Frenchman because their attack has become something of a sludge while Manchester City are pretty phenomenal without him. But it is Barcelona who are said to be the favourites to sign the Atletico Madrid man, who has actually only scored two La Liga goals this season.

Barcelona will apparently make one final move for Philippe Coutinho (of course) and then turn their attentions to Griezmann is that fails.

‘REAL BETIS believe they are close to pulling off a massive coup by convincing Arsenal star Jack Wilshere to move to Spain,’ it says in The Sun. With his Arsenal contract due to expire next summer, Wilshere is free to talk to foreign clubs from January 1 and the Spanish club are said to have heard positive noises from the midfield man’s camp.

Wilshere might want to move before then, though, with Gareth Southgate making it clear that without first-team football, he will not feature for England.
